ELA Teacher's Aide

     "Hey, I just got that new VR system I told you about. Wanna come over and try it out?"

     You look over at your best friend, whose smile practically blinds you. "No way! Of course I'm coming over." As if there'd been any doubt.

     In your friend's living room, you slip on a headset and select the first game you see, something called "The Veldt."

     You're instantly transported to an African landscape, complete with elephants, giraffes, and zebras. In the distance you even hear a lion's roar.

     After a few minutes of nothing happening, you call out, "This is boring. It looks like one of those 360 degree tours, not a game. How do I turn this off and pick something new?"

     Your friend doesn't answer. You spin in a circle and notice a door behind you, not attached to any wall. It has five locks but otherwise looks innocent enough. When you reach out to open it, a voice booms, "Find and solve the five codes before the lions arrive for their meal."

     The hair stands up on the back of your neck as you hear a closer roar.

     Desperately, you start searching for clues.
